Dear CHS Engineering Booster Club Members and Parents,
I hope
everyone had a safe and enjoyable four day weekend. It's hard to imagine, but
another school year has flown by and we will soon be winding down a great year
of activities and events with the School of Engineering and the EBC. I wanted
to update you with a preview of events for the remainder of the year and I also
have a few requests as well.
First, I want
to remind you that our Annual EBC End of Year Banquet and Awards Ceremony is
scheduled for Monday, May 21st at 6:30PM in the Commons Area at CHS. The event
will be fully catered and we plan on keeping the cost at around $10/person as
we have done in the past. The menu will include regular and vegetarian options.
We have narrowed the list of potential caterers down to three and are currently
in the process of making a final selection. I will send out another e-mail
later this week with details regarding the menu choices as well as how to go
about purchasing tickets prior to the event. Please plan on attending this
great annual event as we recognize the students and faculty for all they have
accomplished throughout the year.
We will also
be recognizing our graduating seniors by listing the name of the college they
plan to attend next Fall along with their chosen major, and any scholarships
they may have received or been awarded. All names and information returned to
me by Monday, May 14th will be printed in the program guide that will be handed
out at the banquet.
We will be
awarding four, $500.00 CHS EBC Scholarship's again this year. If your are the
parent of a senior student, please encourage them to apply for this award. Our
webmaster, Gary Kidwell has automated the application process this year so that
everything can be composed and entered into an MS Word document and them submitted
electronically to the Scholarship Committee for consideration. I will be
sending out all of the necessary information in a separate e-mail, including
links to the online forms, guidelines and deadline dates for submitting the
application and teacher recommendations.
I would like
to ask that anyone who may have still photos or video of any of our EBC related
events please submit that information as soon as possible to Mr. Yakubovsky. We
plan on putting together a slide show for the banquet and really need as many
photos or videos as you have going back to the beginning of the year. This
includes the Ice Cream Social, Engineering EXPO, December Potluck dinner, and
all other related competitions and events the students have participated in
since last July. Solar Car, MATE, FRC, whatever the competition or event, we
need your stills or videos. Thanks in advance for anything you may be able to
provide.
Finally, we
will be introducing the members of the incoming Board of Directors at the May
banquet. To that end, I would like to once again advertise that we are still
seeking candidates for the following positions.
-
Vice-President
- Assistant
Treasurer
- Membership
and Volunteer Coordinator
- Webmaster
If you are
interested in serving the Board in any of these positions please contact me at
your convenience. No prior experience is necessary. We need your support!
Thanks in advance for your willingness to volunteer and to contribute to the
success of the CHS EBC.
Please don't
hesitate to contact me with your questions, suggestions or comments.
Best Regards,
Kevin L. Cowan
CHS EBC, President
